Privacy Policy

Last updated 19 September 2026

This policy explains what personal data Global DJ Association ("GDJA", "we") collects when you use globaldjassociation.com, why we collect it, who can see it and what you can do about it. We follow India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000.

1. What we collect

If you register as a DJ

  • Account: your full name, stage name, mobile number, email, state, city and a password (stored only in scrambled, hashed form).
  • Profile: photo, bio, genres, skills, event types, languages, equipment, the year you started, and links such as Instagram, YouTube or SoundCloud.
  • Proof for verification: performance proof (videos, posters, letters, releases), education certificates, and your mix code video.
  • Identity document: the type of document (for example Aadhaar, PAN, passport or driving licence), its last 4 characters and the file you upload. We ask for your consent each time you upload it.
  • Activity: gigs you're invited to and accept, booking enquiries you receive, reviews of your gigs, your crew invites and notifications.

If you register an organisation

  • Your name, mobile, email, the organisation's details and one business document (such as GST, shop licence, company or Udyam registration).

If you contact or review a DJ

  • Booking enquiry: your name, mobile, optional email, event date, type, city, optional budget and message, and the internet (IP) address you sent it from, which we keep to stop spam.
  • Review: the name you choose to show, your rating, tags and comment, and whether you'd book again.

Records of DJs who haven't joined yet

To invite DJs, we may keep a private record of professional information that a DJ has already made public themselves: their stage name, city, and public pages such as an official website, Instagram or SoundCloud, with where we found it. These records are never shown publicly. If you receive an invite and choose “Not me” or “No thanks”, the record is deleted. You can also ask us to delete it at any time.

When anyone visits

  • Basic technical data (device, browser, pages visited) through Google Analytics and our server logs, and the city-level location described in section 6. We count views of public DJ pages as a number per day only; we don't record who viewed them.

2. Why we use it

  • To run your account and send one-time codes (OTPs) to confirm your mobile number.
  • To verify that you are a genuine DJ and issue your GDJA ID. Your identity document is used only for this.
  • To show verified DJs to clients, pass booking enquiries to DJs, and show reviews from real bookings.
  • To run DJ unions, elections, grievances and events on the platform.
  • To keep the platform safe: stop spam, fake profiles and fake reviews.
  • To understand, in total, how the site is used, so we can improve it.

We rely on your consent, which you give when you register, upload a document or send a form, and on legitimate uses allowed by law. You can withdraw consent at any time (see section 8); some features, like staying verified, may then stop working. We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for advertising.

3. What is public

Only once you are GDJA Verified, your public page shows your stage name, city and state, photo, bio, genres, skills, event types, languages, equipment, your public links, checked proof that has a link, confirmed gigs, your level, GDJA ID, union roles, crew badge and crowd reviews. Anyone who scans your GDJA ID card sees whether it is valid.

Never public: your mobile number, email, full legal name, identity document, private proof files, booking enquiries, and clients' numbers. Reviews show only the name the client chose, the event type and the month.

4. Who can see what

  • Reviewers: your identity document and proof can be seen by GDJA administrators and by the office bearers (President, Secretary, Treasurer) of the DJ union for your own city or state, only to review your application.
  • DJs you contact: when you send a booking enquiry, that DJ sees your name, number and event details so they can call you back.
  • Organisers: when an organisation invites you to a gig, they see your public profile and whether you accepted.
  • Your crew: a DJ whose invite link you used sees your stage name only after you are verified; before that, only a count.
  • Authorities: we disclose data if Indian law requires it, such as a valid court or government order.

5. Service providers

We use a few trusted services that process data on our behalf, only as needed to provide them:

  • Cloudflare: website delivery and security (sees visitors' IP addresses and requests).
  • Google Analytics: visit statistics (uses cookies; see section 6).
  • Fast2SMS (when SMS is switched on): sends one-time codes to your mobile number.
  • Razorpay (when payments are switched on): processes membership payments. We never see or store your card or bank details.
  • WhatsApp: when you tap a WhatsApp button, WhatsApp opens on your device and its own privacy policy applies.

Our website and database run on servers in India, with daily backups kept on a separate backup server that we control.

6. Cookies and location

  • Essential cookies keep you logged in and protect forms from misuse.
  • gdja_city remembers the city you chose for “DJs near you”. It stores the city name only, on your device.
  • gdja_crew remembers which DJ's invite link you opened (for 30 days), so their crew gets credit if you sign up.
  • Google Analytics cookies measure visits in total.
  • Location: to suggest DJs near you, we use the approximate city of your internet connection. If you tap “Use my location”, your browser asks you first; we round it and keep only the nearest city name. We never store your exact location.

7. How long we keep it

  • Account, profile and proof: while your account is active. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymise your data within 30 days, except what the law requires us to keep (for example payment records).
  • Identity documents: while you are a member, so your verification can be checked if questioned; deleted with your account.
  • Booking enquiries and reviews: while the DJ's account is active. Published reviews may stay, without your number, as part of the DJ's record.
  • One-time codes expire after 10 minutes. Backups are kept for 30 days and then deleted.

8. Your rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you can:

  • Access a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we use it.
  • Correct or update it. Most profile details you can edit yourself; for others, write to us.
  • Erase it, or withdraw your consent.
  • Nominate someone to exercise these rights for you in case of death or incapacity.
  • Complain to our Grievance Officer (below), and if you're not satisfied, to the Data Protection Board of India.

Write to [email protected] from the email or mobile number on your account. We reply within 30 days.

9. Security

Identity documents and private proof are stored outside the public website and can only be opened by you and the reviewers described above. Passwords are hashed, the site runs over HTTPS, admin actions are restricted, and we back up daily. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.

10. Children

GDJA is for people aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18; if we learn we have, we delete it.
